Fee Policy
Cost of Psychological Testing & Evaluation
Psychological testing services include the administration, scoring, and interpretation of standardized assessments, as well as preparation of a written report and a verbal feedback session discussing findings and clinical recommendations.
Dr Brown’s Diagnostics operates as a fee-for-service provider. Unless otherwise indicated, professional services are billed based on an hourly rate. The total cost of a comprehensive psychological assessment is determined by the number of hours required to complete the full evaluation process, including testing time, scoring, interpretation, report preparation, and review sessions.
When appropriate, we will help determine whether a limited number of tests or out-of-office investigative services are sufficient, in order to avoid unnecessary or excessive procedures.
When Payment Is Due
For comprehensive evaluations:
- A partial payment is required on or before the day of testing
- The remaining balance is due after scoring and interpretation, and before release of the written report and follow-up interview
- Final billing typically occurs approximately two (2) weeks after testing is completed
Accepted payment methods may include cash, check, or major credit cards.
Please speak with our Office Administrator to discuss approved financial arrangements or payment sources.
Medical Insurance Responsibility
Many insurance providers do not cover psychological testing, and those that do often reimburse only a portion of the total cost. It is the patient’s responsibility to contact their insurance carrier to determine eligibility and coverage.
Upon request, we can provide a billing statement and applicable service codes for submission to insurance carriers. Please note:
- We do not submit insurance claims
- We do not guarantee reimbursement
- We assume no responsibility for insurance carrier policies, decisions, or payment outcomes
Important Insurance Questions to Ask
When contacting your insurance provider, we strongly recommend asking:
- Is psychological testing covered under my plan?
- Is there a deductible I must meet?
- What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed?
- Is a referral from a primary care physician required?
- Is prior authorization necessary?
